Competere at the WTO’s Public Forum 2023WTO PUBLIC FORUM 2023 | SEPTEMBER 12TH-15TH, GENEVA

We are excited to announce that Competere will be among the participants at the WTO’s Public Forum, set to be held in Geneva from September 12 to 15, 2023! The event will encompass around 90 interactive sessions, focused on discussing the latest in international trade and sustainability.
Pietro Paganini will be addressing the seminar “Promoting Smallholders’ Inclusion in the Advancement of Green Trade” which focuses on the development of inclusive policies for smallholders as a key factor in promoting green trade in various countries and strategies to enhance their effective implementation.
Indeed, green trade plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainability. Its implementation should promote a harmonious balance between economic development, social well-being, and environmental protection. However, there is growing concern that certain trade policies, under the pretext of green trade, may transform into discriminatory trade barriers. This could have severe consequences for producers, particularly smallholders who face additional challenges in participating in global trade.
What role do smallholders play in promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible practices within the context of green trade? What challenges and obstacles hinder their participation? What approaches can be used to empower them, enhance their knowledge, ensure compliance with environmental standards, and access green trade opportunities?
The seminar, scheduled for Wednesday, September 13th, at 5:00 PM, aims to address these questions and more, while also formulating policy recommendations and guidelines for policymakers, governments, and institutions.
